After exploring Bohol and South Cebu, we had one day in Cebu City and of course, I took the opportunity to go on a vegan food crawl. I was able to visit 4 vegan and vegetarian restaurants in less than 5 hours, went back to the hotel to rest and went to another vegetarian restaurant for dinner before leaving Cebu. The first four places in the list below are very near each other (the farthest distance is less than 2 kilometers), you can definitely walk between these places if you’re up for it. (See map link below for reference.)
Vegan and vegan friendly restaurants in Cebu City, Philippines
1. Live life vegetarian
I had the ‘shrimp’ skewers and mushroom-cheese (cashew based) wanton. The ‘shrimp’ really look realistic and texture is on point. I like the sauce they used as well. I didn’t enjoy the wanton that much. The taste of oyster mushroom is very distinct and I’m not very fond of it. I later found out that they have a branch in Makati so I’ll probably visit again sometime to try the other dishes.
2. Lunhaw vegan cafe
My favorite among all the dishes I’ve tried while in Cebu is their buffalo broccoli and cauliflower. It is so gooood. Their vivimbap with vegan egg is intriguing too, but I was too full to try other dishes.
3. Kit’s Kitchenn
Kit’s Kitchenn offers vegan desserts like donuts and cookies. They are located in a stall just in front of Toniq in Ayala Mall. Take note though that not all their products are vegan (hoping they switch to an all vegan dessert shop!). I assumed they all are because of the vegan sign and mistakenly got the carrot cake in the picture. *face palm* My favorite among their three doughnut is the walnut.
(I didn’t try anymore food during this vegan food crawl but you can definitely put it on your list since it’s in the same location as Kit’s Kitchenn) I was able to try some of their dishes from their SM Cebu Branch which I brought along with me to Moalboal. I’d go back for their veggie burger and calamansi turmeric drink.
5. Planet Vegis
Planet vegis offers affordable, delicious meals with huge serving. We tried some of their best sellers including the sinigang and caldereta. My non-vegan friends enjoyed them as well (especially the sinigang.) They also have a buffet every weekends.
Other places with vegan options in Cebu City
If you find yourself in SM Seaside City Cebu, you can visit these two places for vegan options:
Royal Krui Thai
They have a vegetarian menu with more than 10 items including tom yum and different kinds of curries.
I got the mango sorbet (the only dairy-free option if I remember correctly) which is made of just fresh mangoes and water. So refreshingly good!
